I am delighted that a poetry anthology I selected in 2014, 'Let in the Stars: new poetry for children', has been featured by Twinkl in their poetry books for kids blog (@ https://www.twinkl.co.uk/blog/inspiring-poetry-books-for-kids ). The anthology was compiled from entries to the Manchester Writing for Children Poetry Competition in 2014, and is beautifully illustrated by students from the Manchester School of Art. In it's introductory quote, Carol Ann Duffy says, 'This powerful collection of moving, clever and funny work sends an important message that poetry written for children must be taken seriously, must be cherished (...) celebrating the best new poems in beautiful books like Let in the Stars, which can be picked up and loved by the next generation of readers and writers.’
The book was shortlisted for the 2015 CLPE Children’s Poetry Award (CLiPPA), and features a starry range of poets, including, among others: Carole Bromley, Rose Flint, Ashleigh Gill, Christine Poreba, Louise Greig, Sue Hardy-Dawson, Matt Goodfellow and Chrissie Gittins. The book can be ordered at Waterstones.
